Dorothy Clewes

Here's three books written by Author Dorothy Clewes. The bold retro jacket designs and inside illustrations look like lino cuts. I love the naive style of design and the choices of garish colours on these books. The inside page layouts and integrated illustrations are way ahead of their time. The fact that some of the inside illustrations are printed over the text in complete disgregard for the authority of the body copy makes me very happy and it adds a loose creativity and playfulness that just wouldn't be allowed into a modern book.

Her work is fantastic! Especially "wilberforce". I would love to see some of the pages as a print!

Wow, these are really fantastic, so inspiring. I'm a massive fan of the low-tech lino cut, but these have blown me away!
